Lorrie Teates

A fiber enthusiast from earliest years, I discovered felting in all its various form.   I have focused on painting with fiber using wool, silk, embellishing with thread, yarn, rope, beads and all sorts of materials. I am drawn to the natural world around me.  Each fiber painting is unique.  My work has been shown in local galleries and while I am not a "production" artist, I delight in the appreciation of my work.

Statement

Born in the first moon quarter, with 965 full moons behind me, my journey through life will reach the one thousand mark in 2.9 years or 1058 days. This "full moon" milestone is on my mind and prompted a series of artwork in fiber, my chosen medium.  The moon can convey many things to an artist, ebb and flow, waning and waxing, awe and fear, luminosity and darkness.  For me it represents the passage of time as each season rotates and presents a new moon through the ages.
