ALLIGATOR HIGHWAYS

This a framed painting on clay board the image size is 24 x 24. I used acrylic gesso to create some texture on the board before beginning the painting process. Using dark underpaints as background I added Gold leaf papers through the center of the painting and just began randomly adding other colors using ordinary acrylics and adding iridescence paints to highlife the gold leaf. My goal was to create depth and mystery and ultimately something reminiscent of the Florida Everglades . Having lived in South Florida for many years I was witness to the destruction of the natural beauty of this pristine water world by rampant development. This is my memory of a rich natural world that I was so privileged to witness.
