The Creature

"The Creature.” Multiple layers of charcoal on paper, digitized and manipulated in Photoshop. Original hand charcoal in 2001, digitized and color manipulated in 2024. I labeled it as Mixed Media since there is no area to describe a piece that has been digitally manipulated and printed. A couple of years ago I recreated a new version of “The Creature” with my children, then aged 5 and 10. Pattern creation and a layered approach would be great for an all-age workshop on self-reflection and emotion. “The Scream” by Edvard Munch has always fascinated me, and a wild eyed and open mouth emotion is a staple in a variety of my pieces, such as this one.
