“Mentors: Collaboration and Inspiration”

Artists accepted for this event will have several options of how to participate.

Collaborative Artwork and Poetry:

Option 1: Collaborate with an artist/poet at least 20 years younger or older. Each artist/poet will inspire and mentor the other to create a new artwork or poem, or make one piece together. You can choose your collaborator or I will find someone for you out of the artists who apply.
Option 2: Collaborate with any artist to create a piece for the exhibit. You will find your own collaborator.
Option 3: Artists and Poets can work together to create a piece in either genre. You can choose your collaborator or I will find someone for you out of the artists and poets who apply.

Artists who choose to collaborate will be invited to share a short talk about their collaborative process at the reception, and at docent tour opportunities.

Inspired Artwork and Poetry:

Create a work inspired by another artist, musician, writer, or other creative figure, without direct collaboration. You will choose your own inspirational creative.

Exhibition Dates: August 14 - October 9, 2024

Artists/Poets who want to be paired for collaboration deadline: June 20, 2024. Email request to ccarey@frontporch.net with your website or examples of your work.

Accepted artists/poets who will be collaborating notified: June 22, 2024

Drop Off Artworks: Thursday August 8 and Friday August 9 from 11 – 5

Pick up Artworks: Thursday October 10 and Friday October 11 from 11 – 5

Doris Bertch

Doris Bertch-is an award winning artist currently living in Poway, CA wit her husband and cat. Originally from the Pacific NorthWest she grew up on a small farm, lots of camping in the forest, along the rivers and out to the Pacific Ocean. "Nature and what is around us has always been my focus" are her thoughts as she paints with pastels, acrylic, and oil with cold wax medium.. Work shops: Stephanie Birdsall, Marla Baguette, Terri Ford. Memberships: North County Society of Fine Art, Escondido Arts Partnership, Pastel Society of Southern California, California Art Club

My work has been shown at: Escondido Arts Partnership, Front Porch Gallery, Off Track Gallery, Gallery 21, and other local venues.

Statement

I view my work as a way too bring a little of the natural elements that surrounds us to others in hopes they can understand what nature offers. My goal is to bring a sense of peace and quiet to those who view my work.
