Cherrie La Porte is an award winning artist that has been blazing new trails creatively and originally in mosaic, fused glass and mixed media for over 25 years in North County San Diego. Her abstract contemporary styled designs capture an array of texture, bold colors and eclectic forms and are appealing to the eye while inspiring the imagination.
Her large body of art work is a varied mix of fused glass, mosaic, bronze, metal and found objects from glass jewelry to large mosaic glass installations. Her work has been purchased and displayed in private homes and as public art in libraries, hospitals, gardens and corporate environments. Clientele include many San Diego residents and tourists as well as national and international collectors with a love for unique glass art.
StatementMy glass art and mosaics are conversation pieces to invoke playful, happy and joyful feelings. Color and texture are my motivation and my language is in glass. I love to inspire the viewer with bright colors to enhance a mood and to draw you in to the piece. Using glass as a vehicle for transmitting light is hypnotic to me as I am creating and it allows me to give the viewer eye candy in the form of art.
